The Mission of Malama Maha`ulepu

Malama Maha`ulepu is working to preserve, for future generations, the irreplaceable natural and cultural resources of Maha`ulepu. We believe that the Kaua`i community and its visitors deserve the continuing experience of this beautiful and historic place as an undeveloped area with compatible agricultural, educational and recreational uses.

To achieve preservation, we educate ourselves and others about Maha`ulepu. We seek supporters and partners. We strive to be an inclusive, innovative, competent and collaborative non profit organization.

Our purposes are:

• Education - to increase awareness and knowledge of the importance of Maha`ulepu as a preservation opportunity to the public, decision makers and the landowner
• Research - to learn about Maha`ulepu's past, present and options for the future
• Stewardship - to help take care of the resources of Maha`ulepu
• Organizational capacity building - to continually assess and develop the effectiveness of Malama Maha`ulepu.
